Robotic surgery

Information to help you and your family prepare for a conversation with your surgeon.

In robotic-assisted surgery, your surgeon operates through small incisions using a robotic system. The surgeon controls every movement of the instruments from a console in the operating room. The robot does not operate on its own.
Compared with open surgery, minimally invasive approaches may involve smaller incisions. Whether robotic surgery is appropriate, and what benefits and risks apply, depends on your condition, your health and your surgeon's experience. Only your doctor can advise you.
Patient selection depends on your anatomy, medical history and condition. SS Innovations is not involved in patient selection; your surgeon will advise you.
All surgery carries risk. Complications can include injury to tissues and organs and conversion to laparoscopic or open surgery. Ask your surgeon about the risks that apply to your procedure.
Surgeons using SSi Mantra complete training provided by SS Innovations. You may ask about your surgeon's experience with the procedure you need.
Recovery varies by procedure and patient. Your care team will explain what to expect in hospital and at home.
